The Midfield Signings That Can Make Arsenal Champions Again

Despite Arsenal’s recent resurgence, Arsene Wenger still needs to rebuild his side and buy replacement for Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri who left last summer. With the imminent arrival of Lukas Podolski, the German and Robin van Persie are going to need some support.

Here, Into The Top Corner looks at the five midfield targets Wenger should sign during the summer.

 Eden Hazard – Lille –> £30m+

Just like every other European giant, Arsenal cannot help but stare gooey eyed at the electric Belgian winger. At just 21 years old, Hazard is tipped to be a global star and the mesmerising skills he possesses would almost certainly light up the Emirates. Competition is fierce but last year’s Ligue 1 player of the year is worth every penny – his signing would show the Gunners really do mean business and reassure RVP that the future is very bright in London.

Yann M’Vila – Rennes –> £20m

This lad is a player Arsenal should go all out to sign. At only 21, Laurent Blanc has already set about building his French side around the steely and combative nature of M’Vila, who is in the mould of Patrick Vieira. Wenger would be advised to make his bid before Euro 2012, where M’Vila’s reputation and price will be likely to rise.

Junior Hoilett – Blackburn –> Free Transfer

Despite Blackburn’s difficulties this season, Hoilett has proved he can handle the pressure and has performed admirably. Out of contract at Ewood Park this summer, Hoilett represents an absolute steal. Blessed with trickery and pace, Hoilett’s talent would be perfectly nurtured by Wenger.

Marvin Martin – Sochaux –> £10-15m

The 23-year-old Frenchman is the latest in a long line to be dubbed France’s answer to Zinedine Zidane – high praise indeed and, while perhaps a little optmistic, it does hint at his talent. Able to unlock defences with impressive regularity, Martin’s ability to glide across the pitch means he will be eagerly watched at Euro 2012.

Riccardo Montolivo – Fiorentina –> Free Transfer

The 27-year-old is in the prime of his career and with a World Cup with Italy to his name, the elegant midfielder’s experience is what the Gunners so sorely lack. His composed nature and superb range of passing, means he will be highly sought after when his contract runs out this summer

  1. I think Cheick Tiote at Newcastle would be a cheaper option and in my opinion a better option than some of these because he has already adapted to the Premier League and is exactly what Arsenal need. The never look solid and Tiote will add that as well as some steel to their midifield and they would never be labelled a soft touch again with him in there

    1. Newcastle United have a great chance of playing in Europe next season and an outside chance of finishing fourth this season. Tiote has settled very well at Newcastle and is very happy with the club and their progress. I doubt he will want to leave all but at the same time Arsenal would be very hard to reject. He won;t come cheaper than 10m pounds.
